Ingredients

1 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter
1 tsp. grated lemon rind
2 1/2 c. flour (all-purpose)
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Cream the sugar, salt and butter thoroughly.
Beat the egg, lemon rind and vanilla into creamed mixture until light and fluffy.
Sift together the flour and baking powder.
Gradually stir into creamed ingredients.
Roll dough 1/8-inch thick on floured board.
Cut into fancy shapes.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 9 to 10 minutes.
Remove to cooling rack.
Store in airtight container. Yields about 7 dozen cookies.
