Nut Bread(Norway) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. plain flour
    1 c. whole wheat flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    3/4 c. chopped dates
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 Tbsp. melted shortening
Preparation
    Sift first 4 ingredients.
    Add nuts and dates.
    Combine liquids; stir into first mixture.
    Stir.
    Turn into three Number 2 size greased cans.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
    Turn tins on sides during last 15 minutes.
    To remove from tins, cut out bottoms of cans.
    Nice for holiday gifts!
