Ingredients

2 c. sifted enriched flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, margarine or shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. milk or cream
Preparation

Sift together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking powder and salt.
Cream butter; add sugar gradually and cream until light and fluffy.
Add egg, vanilla and milk.
Add sifted dry ingredients, then gradually add remaining flour until dough is stiff enough to handle.
Chill at least 1 hour.
Roll 1/8-inch thick on lightly floured board and shape with floured cookie cutters.
Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
Sprinkle with plain or tinted sugar.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
