Rolled Sugar Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter, softened
    1 c. sugar
    1 lg. egg
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    decorator sugar crystals
Preparation
    Beat butter at medium speed of electric mixer until creamy; gradually add sugar, beating well.
    Add egg and vanilla; beat well.
    Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to butter mixture; beating until just blended.
    Shape into a ball; cover and chill for 1 1/2 hours.
    Divide dough into thirds.
    Work with 1 portion of dough at a time, storing remaining dough in refrigerator.
    Roll each portion to 1/4 in. thickness on a lightly floured surface.
    Cut with cookie cutters to desired shapes. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
    Sprinkle with sugar crystals. Bake at 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes or until edges are slightly brown.
    Let cookies cool slightly on cookie sheets then remove to wire racks.
