Ingredients

2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
3/4 c. margarine
1 c. sugar
1 beaten egg
1/4 c. sorghum or Brer Rabbit dark molasses
2 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation

Sift together the first 5 ingredients and set aside.
In large mixing bowl, beat margarine; gradually add sugar.
Beat until fluffy.
Add egg and molasses.
Beat well.
Stir in dry ingredients.
Shape into 1 1/2-inch balls (about one heaping tablespoonful).
