Raisin-Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. chopped walnuts
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. raisins
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Preparation
    Mix walnuts, raisins, baking soda and salt with a fork.
    Add shortening and water.
    Let stand 20 minutes.
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0. Add to this mixture the eggs, vanilla, sugar and flour, mixing only to blend.
    Pour into greased and floured loaf pan.
    Bake 1 hour.
