Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. anise seed
1/2 c. slivered almonds
2 Tbsp. soft butter
3 large eggs
3 to 4 Tbsp. cream sherry
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Lightly butter cookie sheet.
Mix flour, baking powder, butter, eggs and sugar.
Beat well.
Add vanilla, sherry and anise seed, mixing well.
Fold in almonds; knead and form into 2 rolls 12-inches long x 2-inches wide.
Transfer rolls to prepared cookie sheet.
Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 20 minutes.
Remove and cut diagonally while still hot.
Replace in oven 10 minutes to dry out.
Remove and cool.
