Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. rolled oats
1 c. gumdrops, cut in fourths
1 c. walnuts, chopped
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Cream shortening and sugars together. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well.
Sift together flour, salt, soda and baking powder.
Stir into creamed mixture.
Stir in rolled oats.
Fold in gumdrops and nuts.
Drop by teaspoons 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
Cool on wire rack.
Yields about 6 dozen.
