Irish Soda Bread - cooking recipe

4 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. caraway seed
1/4 c. butter or oleo
2 c. raisins
1 1/3 c. buttermilk
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 egg yolk
2 tsp. water
Preparation

Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda; stir in caraway seed.
Cut in oleo; add raisins.
Combine buttermilk and egg; blend in flour mixture.
Turn out on floured board.
Knead until smooth about 25 times.
Shape into a smooth ball; place into a well-greased 2-quart casserole.
Cut a 4-inch cross about 1/4-inch across top.
Lightly beat egg yolk and water; brush over loaf and bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 60 to 70 minutes.
