Italian Bread Sticks - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 pkg. yeast
2 1/3 c. plus 1 tsp. water
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
2 c. flour
1 egg
Preparation

Dissolve yeast in 2/3 cup warm water; add salt, sugar and shortening.
Beat in 1 cup flour until smooth.
Knead in remaining flour for 5 minutes.
Shape into 20 (6-inch) pencil lengths.
Place on greased baking sheet.
Beat egg and remaining water together.
Brush on sticks.
Let rise for 1 hour.
Bake for 20 minutes at 370\u00b0.
Yields 20.
