Ingredients

1 c. (2 sticks) margarine or butter, softened
1 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
2 1/2 c. oats, uncooked (quick are best)
1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. coarsely chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation

Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
Beat margarine and sugars until creamy. Add eggs, milk and vanilla; beat well.
Add flour, baking soda and salt; mix well.
Stir in oats, chocolate chips and nuts; mix well. Drop by rounded measuring tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 9 to 10 minutes for a chewy cookie or 12 to 13 minutes for a crisp cookie.
Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack and cool completely.
Makes about 5 dozen 2 1/2-inch cookies.
