Old Tennessee Spoon Bread - cooking recipe

1 c. cornmeal
1 Tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 c. boiling water
2 c. milk
2 eggs
3 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Mix salt with cornmeal. Cut in shortening. Slowly pour in boiling water, stirring as you pour. Beat eggs in the milk to blend well and stir in. Add baking powder and blend all ingredients well. Grease casserole and pour in ingredients. bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes or until brown on top. Stir 2 or 3 times while baking before ingredients congeal. Serve hot from casserole. Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
