2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. anise oil (optional)
sesame seed
Preparation

Sift first four ingredients into bowl.
Cut in shortening until size of small peas.
Stir in egg; add milk, tablespoon at a time, until roughly forms into soft dough.
Form into 1-inch balls. Wet balls in beaten egg, then roll in sesame seed.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Flatten balls a little.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
