1/2 c. firm butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
-
Sift dry ingredients into a bowl.
Cut in butter and shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in egg and vanilla; dough is fairly soft.
Shape into tiny balls; roll in granulated sugar and place, 2 inches apart, onto greased cookie sheets.
Flatten to 1/2-inch.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 minutes, or until delicately browned.
Can be frosted with powdered sugar frosting and decorated with colored sugar.
Or, just roll in colored sugar instead of regular granulated sugar.
