1 c. softened butter or margarine
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 c. granulated sugar
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1 tsp. vanilla
nuts (optional)
Preparation

Beat butter, sugars, vanilla, water and eggs until light and fluffy.
Mix flour with soda and salt; blend into butter mixture. Stir in nuts and chips.
Drop 2 inches apart from teaspoon onto greased baking sheets or pour onto cookie sheet.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
