Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. butter or margarine
Preparation

Cream sugar, salt and butter or margarine thoroughly.
Beat egg and extract into creamed mixture until light and fluffy.
Sift together flour and baking powder.
Gradually stir into creamed ingredients.
Roll dough 1/8-inch thick on floured board.
Cut into fancy shapes.
Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 9 to 10 minutes or until light brown around edges.
Remove to cool.
Store in airtight container. Yield: about 5 dozen cookies.
