Date Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. dates, chopped
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. margarine
    3/4 c. boiling water
    2 eggs
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Combine nuts, dates, soda and salt in bowl.
    Add shortening and boiling water; allow to stand 15 minutes.
    Stir to blend. Beat eggs slightly and add to date mixture.
    Do not overmix. Place in a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
    Bake for 1 hour, or until done, at 350\u00b0.
    Turn out onto a wire rack to finish cooling after it has been in pan about an hour.
