Filled Star Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    3 egg yolks
    1/3 c. orange juice
    4 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    preserves or jam for filling
    confectioners sugar
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla extract.
    Beat in egg yolks and orange juice.
    Combine flour and salt; mix in 2 cups at a time until dough is soft.
    Add flour if needed.
    Wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate overnight.
    Roll out chilled dough to 1/4-inch thickness.
    Use a star cutter to cut out shapes.
    Use thimble to cut out 5/8-inch centers (these are the top cookies). Gather dough scraps and roll out to 1/4-inch thickness.
    Cut out stars and put onto ungreased cookie sheet.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
    Cool and fill with jam.
    Sift confectioners sugar on top.
