Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies

Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
Simmer raisins and water over medium heat until raisins are plump, about 5 minutes.
Drain raisins, reserving liquid.
Add enough water to liquid to measure 1/2 cup. Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Stir in reserved liquid. Blend in remaining ingredients.
