Amish Friendship Cake Initial STARTER:
Day 1-
Combine cake mix, Friendship Cake Starter, oil and eggs in bowl; mix well.
Stir in pecans.
Pour into greased and floured Bundt pan.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour.
Cool in pan for several minutes.
Invert onto serving plate.
Yield: 12 servings.
Stir twice daily until the 30th day.
You are now ready to share your recipe and make your Friendship Cake.
Drain off the juice and give six of your friends 1 1/2 cups each and a copy of this recipe so they can make their own Friendship Cake.
The fruit remaining will make 3 Bundt or three large loaf cakes.
In 1/2 gallon jar combine peach brandy, 1 cup of sugar and canned peaches.
Two weeks later, add 1 cup of sugar and canned pineapple.
After two more weeks, add 1 cup of sugar and cherries. After two more weeks, drain the fruit in colander.
Use fruit in cake and save 1 cup of liquid to start your next cake. Invite a friend over for coffee and cake.
Give your friend a cup of liquid and this recipe so she/he can start their friendship cake.

First, drain the fruit in a large bowl.
Pour the juice into 3 pint jars.
These are your new starters, one for you and 2 for your friends.
Starter can be stored in freezer.
Mix all together and bake in a Bundt or tube pan for 1 hour at 350\u00b0 or until done.
You may want to put a pan of water in bottom of oven for moisture.
Ice your cake with your favorite frosting or eat plain without frosting.
Yield:

Pour starter into glass gallon jar and add 1 can peaches and juice (cut each slice into 4 pieces).
Add 2 1/2 cups sugar.
Stir, cover jar loosely and keep at room temperature. Stir every day for 10 days.
It may take several days for sugar to dissolve.
Combine the first 3 ingredients in a glass gallon jar; let set for 2 weeks, covered loosely with foil with a wooden spoon inserted through the foil to stir daily.
Do not remove foil or spoon.
Be sure to stir daily.
After 2 weeks, add the next 3 ingredients; let set 2 more weeks, stirring daily.
In the fourth week, add the next 3 ingredients; stir daily.
In the sixth week, strain fruit from the juice using a plastic strainer (do not use metal).
You may use fruit for ice cream topping.
Juice is starter for Friendship Cake.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F; lightly grease a 9x13 pan.
Combine all cake ingredients and pour into prepared pan.
Mix together topping ingredients& sprinkle evenly over cake.
Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes, or until tests done.
Let cool completely, and sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.

Stir several times the first day, then once a week after that.
At the end of 2 weeks, the starter will have fermented enough to begin the steps of the Friendship Cake mix.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Blend cake mix, milk, almond extract, butter and eggs in large bowl for 30 seconds on low speed.
Then beat on medium speed for 4 minutes.
Fold in all other ingredients until well mixed.
Pour into prepared bundt pan.
Bake for 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean.
Cool in pan on wire rack for 15 minutes.
Invert and remove cake from pan onto wire rack.
Cool completely.
Dust with confectioners sugar.

To Duncan Hines Butter Recipe Golden cake mix, add the ingredients called for on the box, then add the additional ingredients.
Mix as directed on box.
This makes enough batter for 2 9-inch layers or a large 13 X 9 inch cake.
You may need to add baking time to what is stated on the box - I usually end up adding about 20 minutes for a 13 X 9 cake, less for the 9-inch layers, but check at 10 minute intervals.
This is a cake that requires a starter obtained from one of your friends.
This is sometimes a mixed blessing, as it is difficult to find other people willing to keep the chain cake going.
Following are the instructions for the 30 days required to complete the task.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a 9\"x13\" pan.
In a large mixing bowl, hand mix 1 box Yellow Cake Mix, 1 stick (1/2 cup) melted butter and 1 Egg.
Pat/spread the mixture in the bottom of the greased 9\"x13\" pan. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl combine the remaining ingredients and beat for approximately 4 minutes until mixture is smooth.
Pour mixture evenly over spread and bake for 35 minutes.
DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cake should be golden brown around the edges and somewhat gooey in the center.
