Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
Cream sugar, shortening and eggs until light and fluffy.
Sift 2 cups flour with soda and salt.
Blend into creamed mixture.
Dice orange slice candy.
Mix with 1/2 cup flour and add candy mixture to first mixture.
Stir in coconut, chopped nuts and oats.
Roll into 1-inch balls.
Place on greased cookie sheet and press with fork.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes 6 dozen.

Cut shortening in.
Add beaten eggs, vanilla and milk.
Add flour, oatmeal, baking soda and salt. Stir in orange slice pieces.
Drop by teaspoonful onto cookie sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.

Add eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, coconut, orange slices and pecans.

makes them easier to handle.
Use the flour that has already been measured.

Orange Oatmeal Cookies

Reserve 1/2 cup flour.
Using floured scissors, cut orange slice candy into small pieces into reserved flour.
Sift remaining flour, baking powder, soda and salt together.
Cream margarine and sugars together.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
Stir in dry ingredients.
Add oatmeal, coconut and floured candy pieces.
Mix well.
Shape into balls, using tablespoon of dough for each ball. Place on greased cookie sheet and flatten slightly.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 10 minutes.
