It is with love we dedicate this section to our beloved friends, family and church members who not only touched our hearts with their zeal for life, but passed on treasured family recipes which we have assembled in this section as a tribute to them. They loved not only cooking, but sharing and seeing people enjoy what they had prepared.
So, when you try one of the recipes, remember to add their basic ingredients of 1 extra large smile, 3 heaping tablespoonfuls of love, 1 cup of kindness and 4 tablespoons of joy.
Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer; gradually add sugar, beating well.
Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
Combine flour, soda and salt.
Gradually add to creamed mixture, mixing well.
Stir in pecans.
Shape dough into two 16-inch rolls; wrap in waxed paper and chill at least 4 hours.
Unwrap and cut into 1/3-inch slices; place on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 6 to 8 minutes.
Cool on wire racks.

My grandfather was nicknamed \"Preacher\" because his father was a United Methodist minister.
At any family gathering, Preacher would always make the rolls.
Just before he died, he asked me to come watch him so that I could carry on the family tradition.
I guess he knew his time with us was short.
Here is a beloved family recipe with Preacher's hints.
