Ginger Beef - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1.5 lbs beef cut into smallish cubes
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup sugar
2 large onions, diced
1 T ginger cut into small pieces (or 1 T powdered if fresh isn't available)
Mushrooms sliced and sauteed (or canned)
Carrots cut in pieces
Cornstarch - amount depending on amount of water used to cook meat
Preparation

Combine beef, ginger, soy sauce, onion, and sugar. Add small amount of water (not quite covering meat) and slow boil for 45 minutes in covered pan. Then add carrots and continue cooking an additional 45 minutes. Add mushrooms after carrots are cooked, just long enough for them to heat up. Add more water as needed. Just before serving mix 3-6 tsp cornstarch with a little cold water and add to meat mixture to thicken. Bring to boil and serve over hot rice.
