Date And Almond Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5.25 oz pitted dates, finely chopped
    1 cup sliced almonds
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/4 tsp ground cardamom
    1 1/4 cups unsalted butter, softened
    1 cup granulated sugar
    1 tsp vanilla bean extract
    3 None eggs, beaten lightly
    2 1/4 cups self-rising flour, sifted
    1/2 cup milk
    None None powdered sugar, to dust
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F. Grease and line an 8 inch springform cake pan.
    Combine dates, almonds, brown sugar and cardamom. Set aside.
    Cream butter, sugar and vanilla until pale and creamy. Add eggs, a little bit at a time, alternating with flour. Gradually add milk then remaining flour and a pinch of salt. Spread 1/2 batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 date mixture. Top with remaining batter then remaining date mixture.
    Bake for 1 hour then cover with foil and bake for another 15 mins, or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 mins then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
    Dust cake with powdered sugar and serve.
