1 1/3 cups butter, at room temperature
1 1/3 cup brown sugar (not packed)
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 None large egg
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
5 1/2 oz pack gum drops
Preparation

Using an electric mixer, beat butter, sugar and vanilla extract in a medium bowl until pale and creamy. Add egg; beat to combine. Sift flour over butter mixture. Using a wooden spoon, stir to combine.
Place dough on a lightly floured surface. Divide in half. Using hands, shape each half into a 12-inch log. Wrap each log in plastic wrap. Freeze for 2 hours, or until firm.
Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment.
Remove logs from freezer 15 mins before slicing. Slice into 1/2-inch rounds. Place rounds on prepared trays. Bake for 10 mins, or until light golden. Cool slightly. Press gum drops into cookies. Bake for 2 mins, or until gum drops are slightly melted. Cool on trays for 5 mins. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
