Cheese And Onion Tart - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cups flour
    7 tbsp butter
    1/3 cup lard
    3 None onions, chopped
    4 1/2 cups grated Cheddar cheese
    2 None eggs
    1/3 cup milk or cream
    None None Chopped chives, to garnish (optional)
Preparation
    Grease a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom. Sift the flour into a bowl.
    Heat half the butter, the lard and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan until the butter and lard have melted. Add to the flour. Mix with a wooden spoon until a smooth dough has formed. Bring together with your hands to form a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 10 mins.
    Meanwhile, melt the remaining butter in a skillet on medium heat. Add the onions and cook for 5 mins until translucent. Transfer to a large bowl. Cool slightly. Stir in the cheese.
    Beat the eggs and milk or cream in a small bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add to the onion and cheese mixture and stir to combine. Set aside.
    Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured work surface. Line tart pan with pastry; trim edges. Refrigerate for 10 mins. Preheat the oven to 350\u00b0F.
    Fill the tart crust with the cheese and onion mixture. Bake for 50 mins until golden and the pastry is crisp. Serve garnished with chopped chives (if using).
