Nutmeg Cake - cooking recipe

1 1/4 cups self-rising flour
1 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp ground nutmeg
8 tbsp (1 stick) butter, chopped
1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup milk
1 None egg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350\u00b0F. Grease a 12 x 8-inch baking pan.
Sift the flours and nutmeg into a large bowl. Rub in the butter. Mix in the sugar (or process until crumbly). Press 1 1/2 cups of the mixture into the prepared pan.
Stir the combined baking soda and milk into the remaining dry ingredients with the egg and nuts. Mix well, then pour into the pan.
Bake for about 35 mins until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool in pan 5 mins. Remove from pan; cool completely on wire rack.
