French Vanilla Pastry - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 cup custard powder
    2 cups milk
    1/3 cup sugar
    2 tsp vanilla extract
    1 1/4 cups heavy cream
    3 sheets frozen puff pastry, partially thawed
Preparation
    Whisk custard powder and 1/2 cup of the milk to a smooth paste in a medium saucepan. Stir in sugar and remaining milk. Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly, until custard boils and thickens. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract. Transfer custard to a large bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and cool.
    Beat cream in large bowl with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Beat the whipped cream into custard in two batches until custard is smooth and thick. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate.
    Preheat the oven to 425\u00b0F. Place each pastry sheet on a separate baking pan. Bake 10-12 mins or until golden brown. Cool.
    Place a pastry square on a platter. Spread with half the chilled custard, then top with another pastry square and the remaining custard. Place remaining pastry square on top. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Cut into rectangular pieces using a large serrated knife. Dust tops with sifted powdered sugar, if desired.
