Caramel Chocolate Bars - cooking recipe
Ingredients

10 tbsp (1 1/4 sticks) butter
3/4 cup self-rising flour, sifted
3/4 cup flaked coconut
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
2 tbsp light corn syrup
4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
1/4 cup vegetable shortening

Preheat the oven to 350\u00b0F. Lightly grease a 12 x 8-inch baking pan and line with parchment paper.
Melt 8 tbsp (1 stick) of the butter in a large bowl. Stir in flour, coconut and sugar until combined. Press mixture firmly into bottom of prepared pan. Bake for 10-15 mins, or until lightly golden.
Meanwhile, combine sweetened condensed milk, remaining 2 tbsp butter and syrup in a small saucepan on low heat. Stir, without boiling, for 10-15 mins, until mixture is golden brown.
Pour hot filling over crust. Bake for 10 mins. Cool on a wire rack.
Combine chocolate and shortening in a small saucepan on low heat. Stir until melted and smooth. Spread over filling. Let stand at room temperature until set. Cut into squares.
