Donuts With Lemon Sugar - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 cup sugar
    1 None egg
    1 tbsp butter, at room temperature
    1/4 cup buttermilk
    1 1/4 cups flour
    3/4 tsp baking powder
    1/4 tsp baking soda
    None None Vegetable oil for deep-frying
    None None FOR THE LEMON SUGAR
    1 cup sugar
    2 tsp grated lemon peel
Preparation
    Beat sugar, egg and butter in a medium bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in buttermilk on low speed.
    Sift flour, baking powder and baking soda into small bowl. Gradually add to egg mixture, beating until just combined and smooth. Refrigerate, covered, 1 1/2 hours.
    Meanwhile, for the lemon sugar, combine sugar and lemon peel in a medium bowl. Set aside.
    Roll dough into a log on a lightly floured surface. Cut into 1/2 inch-thick slices. Using floured hands, roll each portion into a ball. Press down gently on each ball to flatten slightly.
    Heat oil in a large saucepan on medium heat to 365\u00b0F. Deep-fry donuts in 4 batches for 4-5 mins, turning once, until golden and cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon. Drain on paper towels. Toss in lemon sugar. Serve hot.
