Halloween Bandage Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 cups wholewheat flour
1/2 cup lightly salted butter, cut into pieces
    3/4 cup sugar
    1 tsp vanilla
    1/2 cup ground almonds
    1 medium egg
    1 medium egg white
    1 2/3 cups powdered sugar
None None liquid red food coloring
Preparation
Put the flour in a food processor and add the butter. Blend until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the sugar, vanilla, ground almonds, and egg and blend to a dough. Wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350\u00b0F. Grease 2 baking sheets. Thinly roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into 3 inch wide strips. Cut across the strips at 1 inch intervals to make small rectangles. Transfer to the baking sheets. Bake for about 7 minutes until just beginning to color. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
Beat the egg white with the powdered sugar until smooth. Put a little in a piping bag fitted with a writer nozzle. Blend another 2 tablespoons of the icing with a little red food coloring to resemble blood.
Frost a square in the middle of the cookies with white frosting as pictured. Spoon a little red icing onto the centers of the cookies to finish.
