Spiced Pear Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 cup butter, at room temperature
    1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    2 None large eggs
    1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
    1/3 cup all-purpose flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    3 tsp pumpkin pie spice
    2 None medium pears, peeled, quartered, cored, sliced thinly
    None None powdered sugar, to dust
    None None vanilla custard or heavy cream, to serve
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F. Grease and line an 8x12 inch rimmed baking pan with parchment paper, extending paper over long sides for handles.
    In a stand mixer, beat butter and sugar until pale and creamy. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, beating well between additions. Stir in honey. Sift flour, baking soda and spice mix over butter mixture. Add 1/4 cup hot water and stir until just combined. Transfer to prepared pan and smooth surface.
    Arrange pears, overlapping slightly, over cake batter. Bake for 40-45 mins, or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove cake from oven. Let cake stand in pan for 5 mins then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar.
    Serve with custard.
