Classic Scones - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 1/4 cups self-rising flour
    2 tbsp powdered sugar
    4 1/2 tbsp cold butter, coarsely chopped
    1 2/3 cups milk, plus extra for brushing
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 425\u00b0F. Grease an 8x12 inch rimmed baking pan.
    Sift flour and sugar into a large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Make a well in the center. Add milk and 2/3 cup water. Mix until combined. Transfer to a lightly floured work surface and knead until smooth.
    Press dough into a 3/4 inch-thick disc. Dip a 2 inch round cutter in flour and cut as many rounds as possible from dough. Arrange scones, side by side, just touching, in prepared pan.
    Brush tops with extra milk then bake for 15 mins, or until golden brown. Scones should sound hollow when tapped on bottoms.
