Poached Pears With Star Anise And Honey Syrup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 None lemon, juiced
300 ml white wine (such as Riesling)
    6 None star anise
    175 g sugar
    1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    200 g honey
4 None ripe, firm pears, peeled, retaining the stalks
    4 scoops vanilla ice cream
Preparation
In a deep-sided pan, combine the white wine, 3 cups water, lemon juice, star anise, sugar, vanilla extract, and honey and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and lower the pears into the hot syrup and poach for about 20 minutes, turning occasionally. Make sure the syrup stays at a simmer, but does not boil.
Using a slotted spoon, remove pears from the syrup and set aside to cool. Meanwhile, leave 2 cups of the syrup in the pan, and cover the pears with the remaining syrup. Boil the 2 cups of syrup in the pan for about 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
Serve the pears with the syrup drizzled over and vanilla ice cream on the side. Use the star anise to garnish.
