Cherry Vanilla Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    100 g butter
    400 ml semi-skimmed milk
    200 g caster sugar + 1 tbsp
    42 g fresh yeast or 1 tsp dried
    400 g plain flour
    8 medium eggs
    750 g sour cream
    1 tsp vanilla essence
    2 tbsp custard powder
    1 kg cherries
    None None chocolate shavings for decoration
Preparation
    Melt the butter and add 3/4 cup of milk and heat until luke-warm. Mix 1/2 cup of this milk mixture with 1 tbsp sugar and the yeast and leave for a couple of minutes until it becomes frothy.
    In a bowl, mix the flour, 1 cup of sugar and a pinch of salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast milk. Mix together, cover and leave in a warm place for 15 minutes. Add the remaining warm milk and 1 egg, knead into a smooth dough, cover and leave for 30 minutes.
    Roll the dough out on a floured surface to 12 x 15 inches, transfer it to the same sized baking sheet which has been greased and dusted with flour. Cover and leave to proof for 15 minutes.
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0F. Mix the sour cream, vanilla extract, 7 eggs, pudding powder, 3/4 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of sugar. Distribute the cherries on the dough, add the sour cream mixture and bake for 25 minutes. Leave to cool before cutting into squares and decorating with chocolate shavings.
