Date, Walnut And Banana Scones - cooking recipe

2 1/2 cups self-rising flour
2 tbsp butter, chopped
3 oz dates, chopped
1.75 oz walnuts, chopped
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 None banana, chopped
1/2 cup milk
1 None medium egg
Preparation

Lightly grease a baking sheet. Sift flour into a large bowl. Add butter and rub in lightly using fingertips. Stir in dates, walnuts, sugar and banana.
Make a well in the center. Pour in combined milk and egg all at once, reserving about 1 tbsp. Using a butter knife, mix quickly to a soft, sticky dough. Do not over-mix.
Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Knead lightly. Press or roll out to form a round about 1 inch thick. Cut into triangles.
Place close together on tray. Brush with reserved milk and egg mixture. Bake for 10-12 mins, or until scones sound hollow when tapped. Cool on a wire rack.
