Date And Banana Bars - cooking recipe

3 oz pitted dates, coarsely chopped
1 tbsp honey
7 tbsp butter
3/4 cup raw sugar
1 cup self-rising flour, plus 2 tbsp
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg, plus extra to sprinkle
2/3 cup unprocessed bran
1/2 None banana, mashed
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 1/2 tbsp softened butter
2 tbsp lemon juice
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F. Grease a 10x12 inch rimmed baking pan.
In a small saucepan, bring dates, 1/4 cup water and honey to a boil. Simmer for 2 mins, or until slightly thickened. Let cool.
Beat butter and sugar until combined. Stir in flour, nutmeg, date mixture, bran and banana. Transfer to prepared pan and bake for 30 mins, or until firm. Let cool for 20 mins.
Meanwhile, sift powdered sugar into small heatproof bowl. Stir in butter, lemon juice and 1 tbsp water. Stir over a double boiler until spreadable. Spread over slightly cooled cake.
