Spicy Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head red cabbage, chopped
    1/4 cup butter (or margarine)
    1/2 cup cider vinegar
    1/2 cup water
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon clove (ground)
    1/2 teaspoon allspice
Preparation
    Put all ingredients into a large saucepan.
    Bring to a boil.
    Stir, then reduce heat to low.
    Siimmer until desired tenderness is reached. (I like mine softer, so I cook on simmer for an hour or more).
