Ingredients

3/4 cup shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups oats, uncooked
1 cup whole grain spelt flour
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup dried cherries
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit.
Cream shortening, egg, sugar, molasses and milk together.
Combine oats, flours, and baking soda.
Mix dry ingredients into creamed mixture a little at a time.
Mix in cherries and chocolate chips.
Drop on prepared baking sheets (I use heaping tablespoonfuls).
Bake approximately 15 minutes. Edges should be lightly browned.
Cool.
