Aunt Jewel'S Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. pinto beans
    8 c. water
    ham, bacon, hamburger or stew
    1 garlic clove, chopped
    1 c. chopped onion
    1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 can tomatoes
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. margarine
    1 tsp. oregano
    1 tsp. powdered cumin
    salt and cayenne pepper to taste
Preparation
    Wash
    beans
    and cook slowly in water 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Cook onions, celery and pepper in margarine until tender.
    Add to beans
    with
    tomatoes
    and\tother seasonings and simmer at least 30 minutes.
    Can be frozen.
    May use Ro-Tel tomatoes and green chilies.
