Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. cornstarch
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 egg
    1/4 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. water
    1 large onion or sliced mushrooms
Preparation
    Mix cornstarch, baking powder, pepper, flour and salt.
    Mix water and egg together; add to dry mixture.
    Dip the onion rings or mushrooms in the batter, covering completely.
    The onions or mushrooms will look like there isn't enough batter on them, but the batter will puff up as cooked.
    Fry in half inch of oil.
