Maine Crab Cakes, Chesapeake Style - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. mayonnaise
    3 eggs
    4 slices fresh white bread, processed to medium-fine crumbs
    2 Tbsp. Old Bay seasoning
    1 Tbsp. dry mustard
    1 Tbsp. chopped chives
    1 tsp. dry basil
    1 tsp. dry oregano
    1/2 medium red pepper
    1/2 medium Spanish onion, diced small
    butter
    1 lb. lump crabmeat
Preparation
    Mix first 8 ingredients together until well blended.
    Saute the pepper and onion in a little butter until soft.
    Add to mayonnaise mixture.
    Gently fold in crabmeat.
    Shape into 2-inch patties. Saute in butter over medium-high heat until brown on both sides.
    Makes 6 to 8 (2-inch) cakes.
