Anadama Bread(Yields 2 Loaves) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. yellow corn meal
2 c. water
2 Tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. molasses
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. warm water (110~)
1 pkg. active dry yeast or 1 cake compressed yeast
6 c. flour
Preparation

In large mixing bowl, combine corn meal with 1/2 cup water. Bring the remaining 1 1/2 cups of water to a boil and add to corn meal mixture.
Add shortening, molasses and salt; cool to lukewarm.
Dissolve yeast in warm water; add to corn meal mixture. Stir in enough flour to make a stiff dough.
Turn dough out on lightly floured board or pastry cloth and knead until smooth and elastic.
Place in greased bowl; cover.
Let rise in warm place until double in bulk, about one hour.
Cut dough in half and shape.
Place in greased loaf pan, 9 x 5-inch.
Cover and let rise in warm place until double in bulk, about one hour.
Bake in moderate oven (375\u00b0) for 50 minutes.
Brush top with melted butter.
