Easy Peach Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large can sliced peaches
    1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
    1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind (optional)
    1 egg, well beaten
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. melted shortening
    1 c. flour
Preparation
    Drain peaches, saving the syrup.
    Arrange in a greased 8-inch square pan.
    Combine 1/4 cup peach syrup, lemon juice and lemon rind and pour over peaches.
    Combine dry ingredients.
    Add shortening, egg and 1/3 cup reserved syrup until moistened. Spread over peaches and sprinkle with sugar.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 45 minutes.
    Serve warm with ice cream or whipped topping.
