Basic Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 eggs, separated
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Scald 1 1/2 cups milk in the top of a double boiler.
    Make a thickening by combining the sugar, cornstarch, flour and salt, then stir in the remaining 1/2 cup milk with the egg yolks. Stir this flour mixture into the hot milk and cook until it thickens. Remove it from the heat and add the butter and vanilla.
    Let it cool a little before pouring into a baked pie shell.
