Black Walnut Layer Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. butter
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 box brown sugar
    1 c. sugar
    5 large eggs
    3 c. plain flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    1 tsp. black walnut flavoring
    1 c. walnuts
    1 c. milk
Preparation
    Cream butter, shortening and brown sugar. Mix well, then add white sugar.
    Beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time.
    Sift remaining dry ingredients together and alternately with milk.
    Add flavoring and nuts. Bake at 325\u00b0 until done.
