Hot Hush Puppies - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 3/4 c. cornmeal
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. galic salt
1/2 c. diced onion
1/2 to 1 4-oz. can dried pepper
1 c. buttermilk
1 egg beaten
Preparation

Fill a large deep-fry pot or electric skillet to half its depth with wesson oil. Heat oil to 400\u00b0, meanwhile, in a large bowl sift together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and garlic salt, blend well. Add onion and jalapeno pepper, stir until well blended. In a small bowl combine buttermilk and eggs, add to dry ingredients, stir until batter is moist and all ingredients are combined. Working in small batches carefully drop butter by heaping tablespoons into hot oil. Fry until golden brown.
Makes about 36.
