Seafoam Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/3 c. light corn syrup
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 egg whites
    1 c. nutmeats
    3/4 tsp. vanilla extract
    1/3 c. candies cherries
    1 1/2 sq. melted chocolate (suggested addition)
Preparation
    Cook sugar, corn syrup, salt and water together until a hard ball is formed in water or until 263\u00b0 to 265\u00b0 is reached. Remove from fire and pour slowly over stiffly beaten egg whites. Add nuts, candied cherries (cut in small pieces) and vanilla.
    Beat until mixture loses its gloss and will hold shape when dropped from the spoon.
    Drop onto buttered cookie sheet from spoon.
