Caramel Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    32 large candy caramels
    5 Tbsp. cream or evaporated milk
    1 c. flour
    1 c. quick cooking oatmeal
    3/4 c. packed brown sugar
    1/4 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. butter
    1 c. chocolate chips
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Melt caramels in cream in top of double boiler.
    Cool slightly. Make crumb mixture of flour, butter, oatmeal, salt, soda and brown sugar.
    Press 1/2 of crumb mixture in bottom of 11 x 7 baking pan. Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 10 minutes.
    Remove from oven, sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts over baked crumb mixture.
    Carefully spread caramel mixture over chips and nuts.
    Sprinkle with rest of crumb mixture and press down.
    Bake 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
    Chill and cut in bars.
    Makes 24 bars.
