Fresh Fruit With Ginger - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 to 3-inch piece of ginger root
    2 c. granulated sugar
    6 medium navel oranges, peeled and cut in 1/2-inch slices
    6 c. bite-size chunks of honeydew melon
    3 c. bite-size chunks of cantaloupe melon
    3 c. seedless red grapes
    3 pt. strawberries
    12 slices candied ginger, chopped
Preparation
    Finely chop ginger root in a food processor or shred using large holes of a cheese grater.
    Pour 1 cup of boiling water into processor or put shredded ginger into a small bowl and cover with boiling water.
    Let stand 30 minutes.
